After a particularly long, frosty winter in Ukraine, the pleasant spring weather is drawing children young and old outside to the grass and fields. Many of our children spend entire afternoons in the sun.
In order to enhance the fresh, pleasant environment on campus, Alumim launched a planting project. The children, housemother and counselors spent several afternoons planting flowers and grass throughout the grounds. The joy of creativity, warm feelings of cooperation, and aspiration to add and improve were all felt by the children on this extra-fun day. Dressed in work clothes and displaying muddy hands and shining eyes, our children lovingly deposited seedling after seedling in the marked spots and assumed responsibility to continue tending and watering the young plants.
The children absorbed a compelling message of responsibility, devotion, and stability. Alumim is seeking to develop similar programs that will grant our children the ability to enjoy the fruits of their labor as they watch the wonderful results of their toil.
