Following the preliminary project conducted during the winter, Alumim has decided to implement a unique summer camp project. During this summer, in addition to the regular children′s camps, Alumim will be running three sessions of a recreational camp for mothers with their children. During each week-long session, families who have previously benefitted from Alumim′s programs will become more closely acquainted with the Center. The camps are being sponsored with the help of the Leviev Foundation.
Participants will enjoy a vacation meticulously planned to include a variety of activities and excursions, an intense experience of Jewish tradition, and most importantly, a unique medical program designed to include comprehensive medical examinations, dental treatments for the children, lectures on childcare for the parents, and more.
The first session, involving a group of parents and children from the city of Vinnitsa, culminated this week with great success. The camp ran two simultaneous programs, one for the mothers and one for the children, with occasional shared activities. The adult program included a talk on Judaism led each day by a different guest lecturer, diverse crafts, tours of Zhitomir with emphasis on Jewish sites in the city, sports, massage therapy and more. The children also enjoyed a busy program of games, competitions, performances and other activities, with the parents occasionally joining in the fun.
One of the girls celebrated her birthday with a party, and while the kids had fun with special activities, the mothers together took upon themselves new resolutions pertaining to Jewish practice and particularly in matters affecting their children′s education, in order to connect them with the chain of Jewish mothers and their children from the past generations.
