Bringing Sweetness in Challenging Times

As the Jewish world prepares to welcome Rosh Hashanah, a time of reflection, renewal, and blessing, our community in Zhytomyr and the surrounding cities has experienced the true power of unity and kindness.

Despite the ongoing war conditions, and the many difficulties they bring to families in Ukraine, we are deeply moved to share that 2,500 Rosh Hashanah packages filled with food, essentials, and holiday items were distributed to families in need. Each package was not just food for the holiday table—it was a reminder of hope, of Jewish connection, and of the sweetness that we pray for in the coming year.

This was only possible thanks to your support. Together, we have brought comfort and dignity to thousands of men, women, and children who otherwise would not have been able to properly celebrate this sacred time.

Rosh Hashanah calls on us to crown Hashem as our King, and to fill our homes and hearts with the taste of honey and the sound of the shofar. Thanks to you, many families who face darkness and uncertainty were able to feel the light and warmth of Yom Tov.

As we stand at the threshold of 5786, we humbly ask you to continue partnering with us. Your generosity ensures that no family is forgotten, and that every Jewish child and parent can sit at their table with joy and dignity this New Year.

Together, may we bring sweetness to others—and in that merit, may Hashem bless you and your loved ones with a year filled with health, protection, happiness, and revealed goodness.

Ketiva v’Chatima Tova – may you be inscribed and sealed for a good and sweet year!

With gratitude and blessings,
Rabbi Shlomo Wilhelm
