A Pesach of Strength, Unity, and Hope

From Ashkelon, Israel to Zhytomyr, Ukraine

This past Pesach, the Alumim Children’s Center and our dedicated teams in Ashkelon, Israel, and Zhytomyr, Ukraine, came together to create a powerful and uplifting Yom Tov experience for thousands—despite the ongoing challenges of war and uncertainty.

Ashkelon, Israel: Light Amidst Sirens

In Ashkelon, where sirens and security tensions remain part of daily life, our team worked tirelessly to ensure that the spirit of Pesach was felt by all.

  • Over 1,000 individuals received handmade matzah, bringing the authentic taste and tradition of Pesach into their homes.
  • We distributed 100 food packages to families in need, filled with essential items for the holiday.
  • Children at the Alumim Center were provided with new clothing for Pesach, giving them dignity and joy as they entered the Yom Tov.
  • Special Pesach trips and activities were organized, offering the children moments of happiness, normalcy, and relief from the surrounding tensions.

Despite the difficult conditions, every package was delivered, every child was cared for, and every effort was made to ensure a meaningful and joyful Pesach.

Zhytomyr, Ukraine: A Community United

In Zhytomyr, where the effects of war are deeply felt, our community reached extraordinary heights in supporting one another.

  • An incredible 2,500 families received comprehensive Pesach food packages, including wine, matzah, chicken, eggs, vegetables, and all holiday necessities.
  • At the local Jewish school, children participated in mock Seders and matzah baking workshops, gaining hands-on educational experiences that brought the story of the Exodus to life.
  • Throughout Pesach, the synagogue served hundreds of holiday meals, ensuring that no one was left alone.

A Camp of Joy and Renewal

One of the highlights of the holiday was a special Pesach camp for over 70 boys, who came together in a warm and supportive environment.

With the devoted Yeka staff and organizers, the boys experienced:

  • Inspiring educational programs
  • Fun and engaging trips
  • A fully kosher Pesach environment
  • A much-needed emotional and physical escape from the realities of war

The camp provided not only celebration, but also healing, connection, and renewed strength.

Carrying the Spirit Forward

Pesach reminds us that even in the darkest times, redemption and hope are always within reach. This year, in both Ashkelon and Zhytomyr, that message was lived and felt in the most tangible way.

Through acts of kindness, unity, and unwavering dedication, thousands of lives were touched.

We are deeply grateful to our partners and supporters who made all of this possible.

Together, we continue to bring light, hope, and a sense of family to those who need it most.
